STRONG OPENING FOR THE AUTUMN TROPHY IN LONATO

The first round of the 26th Autumn Trophy took place in Lonato with 270 drivers competing in national categories, Rok Cup’s Challenge and Iame X30 National Final. The closing round will award the Trophies next Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th October. 
 
Lonato del Garda (Brescia, Italy). A great participation of 270 drivers has opened the 26th Autumn Trophy at the South Garda Karting circuit of Lonato. The race had validity for National Categories, for the Iame X30 National Final and as penultimate round of the Challenge Rok Cup.
 
Out of the 270 drivers, the national classes were the most numerous with 123 racers making it to the track, but participation in the two single make categories X30 Iame and Rok Cup has also been excellent, respectively with 60 and 86 drivers. Organization of the event that took place Saturday 1st and Sunday 2th October has been great, and the races were run without any problems despite the disturbing rain fallen on Sunday morning. The 26th edition of the Autumn Trophy will reach its conclusion in the weekend of 8-9 October.
 
KZ2. The most powerful category, KZ2, has had a good 33 drivers at the start. Enrico Bernardotto had the upper hand on CKR-Tm and has been the quickest throughout the weekend. He set the pole position and the took a double victory in Prefinal and Final. Bernardotto has been challenged mainly by Massimo Dante on Maranello-Tm, who won the Trophy last year. Dante had to settle for P2 in the Final this time around, after being third in the Prefinal also behind Alberto Cavalieri on Tony Kart-Vortex. The third step of the podium of the Final went to Fabrizio Rosati on CRG-Modena, who managed to complete a good comeback run from the 13th place of qualifying and the fifth place of the Prefinal. The other protagonists of the Final were Luciano Medeghini (VRK-Tm) fourth, who proceeded Mirko Colombo (Energy-Tm), Davide De Marco (TB Kart-Tm), Alessandro Ruggeri (Formula K-Tm) and Alberto Cavalieri, to round off the top eight.
 
PRODRIVER UNDER. Prodriver Under also featured a full starting grid with 33 drivers. Luca Bombardelli, on Maranello-Tm, was the main protagonist of the event. He has been quickest since qualifying and then dominated Prefinal and Final. Bombardelli led Nicolò Zin on CKR-Tm and Vincenzo La Martina on CRG-Tm at the Final’s chequered flag. The fourth place went to Riccardo Nalon on Formula K-Tm, who has been among the quickest of the weekend after the 10s penalty handed to Antonio Reguzzi (Maranello-Tm) and Lorenzo Natali (CRG-Tm).
 
PRODRIVER OVER. In Prodriver Over, class with 26 drivers at the start, qualifying highlighted the speed of Maranello Kart’s drivers, with the top three monopolized by Jarno Giusti, Fabio Danti and Cristian Griggio. Michele Bresaola, on Tony Kart-Vortex, came to the fore in the Prefinal first – following the tenth place of qualifying, before winning also the Final leading Griggio. The third step of the podium was obtained by Luca Levorato (Parolin-Tm).
 
125 CLUB. Mauro Moretti dominated the scene of 125 Club on Tony Kart-Tm leaving only the satisfaction of the pole position to Francesco Perugini (BirelArt-Tm). Moretti got the lead back winning the Prefinal and Final, where he crossed the finish line ahead of Davide Micheletti (Maranello-Tm) and Michele Locatelli (Kosmic-Tm), with Perugini ending fourth. Daniele Piovani (Croc-Maxter) was handed a 10s time penalty after crossing the line in P2.
 
60 MINI AND ENTRY LEVEL. In the two categories reserved to the youngest drivers, the victory of 60 Mini went to Victor Martin Odin (Energy-Tm), who led Yannik Federer (Maranello-Tm) and Lorenzo Marin (Tony Kart-Tm). In Entry Level, Roberto Castellozzi (Italcorse-Lke) claimed the win proceeding Michael Ider (Evokart-Lke) and Riccardo Ferrari (Crc-Iame). 
 
CHALLENGE ROK CUP. Categories Rok run the penultimate round of the Challenge Rok Cup. Category Mini had the stunning presence of 40 drivers that required two heats. The victory in Mini  went to Marco Bernardi (Energy-Vortex), who posted the quickest time in qualifying before winning the Final with a spectacular sprint to the line involving also Valentino Baracco (Top Kart-Vortex). The third place went to Pietro Ragone.
 
The victory in Junior Rok’s Final went to the Swiss Gabrio Bizzozero (FA-Vortex), who led the two Polish drivers Adrian Janicki and Kacper Szczurek, both on Kosmic. Another Polish driver, Maciej Szyszko, was eventually handed a 10s time penalty which relegated him from P2 to the final P6.
 
The two categories Super Rok and Rok Senior got on track together. The Final classification saw the victory of Super Rok going to Mattia D’Abramo (Tony Kart-Vortex), who proceeded the Czech driver Ondrej Kocka (CRG-Vortex) and Giuseppe Gaglianò (Tony Kart-Vortex). The Polish Szymon Szyszko (Kosmic-Vortex) won Rok Senior, taking the absolute fourth position of the race with the same closing time of Lukas Muth (Tony Kart) of Super Rok. The second place of Senior went to Simone Favaro (Tony Kart-Vortex), as Mila Bartosz (Tony Kart-Vortex) closed his effort in third.
 
Gabriele Bensi (CRG-Vortex) won the Final of Rok Shifter, while the second and third place were inherited respectively by Cristian Lepore (Tony kart-Vortex) and by the Swiss Ivan Rechsteiner (CRG-Vortex) following the 10s time penalties handed to Mattia Melis (Maranello-Vortex) and Jan Krencisz (Birel-Vortex).
 
X30 NATIONAL FINAL. The single make Iame X30 had a good participation as 60 drivers got on track at the South Garda Karting for its National Final. X30 Mini was dominated by Hayden Lupifieri (GP-Iame), who won the Final proceeding Marco Chiarello (Intrepid-Iame) and Thomas Consonni (Energy-Iame). The victory of X30 Junior went to Daniel Grimaldi (Lenzo-Iame), as Luca Vanzetto (Tony Kart-Iame) and Mathias Torreggiani (CRG-Iame) completed the podium.
 
X30 Super and X30 Master got on track together. The absolute winner of the race was Carlo Aldera (Tony Kart-Iame) of X30 Super, that proceeded the two rivals of the same category Luca Essant (Tony Kart-Iame) and Giacomo Rossi (Zanardi-Iame). The victory of X30 Master went to Davide Gherardi (Kosmic-Iame), as Christian Crepaldi (Evokart-Iame) was second and Tino Donadei (Evokart-Iame) third.
 
X30 Senior had 21 drivers at the start. Pierluigi Lanza had the upper hand on all rivals on Tony Kart-Iame, winning Prefinal and Final. Lanza had to face the challenge of Alessandro Di Cori in the Final, as the latter took the lead early on. Di Cori was eventually second proceeding Cristian Comanducci, also on Tony Kart.
 
The Final round of the Autumn Trophy is scheduled on the same track of Lonato on Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th October. The deadline for subscriptions is next Thursday October 6th. Entries will have to be submitted through www.southgardakarting.it Free practice and qualifying will take place on Saturday, warm-up, heats, Prefinals and Finals will follow on Sunday with live TV and Live Timing at www.southgardakarting.it.
